Well, anyone who knows me IRL knows that I am not always the most graceful individual on this earth.
I proved that Tuesday evening.
I fell in a pothole and broke my right foot and sprained my left. Ow.
So I really can't walk; hobbling is about the best I can manage. And I'm not supposed to drive until my right foot heals; I'm not supposed to be using it at all, but I can't help it. The left one hurts so much that I can't stand to bear all my weight on it; I have to put a little weight on the right foot. Hopefully I won't screw my foot up completely; apparently this type of fracture can require the placement of a screw in my foot to repair it. Ow.
Oh, and by the way, OWWWWWWW!!!!

Date: 2006-06-22 03:39 pm (UTC)It should help; they gave me some when I was actually in the ER, and the drugs made it possible for me to walk without making too many weird noises.

Date: 2006-06-22 03:51 pm (UTC)It would sure be nice to be able to walk like normal people again, though. Or even to be able to crutch around like normal people on crutches.
I've been on crutches a fair few times; I was a real klutz around age 8-9, and sprained both ankles and both knees numerous times, plus managed to break a few toes. I have also had surgery on my left knee, so I'm no stranger to gimping around.
Injuring both feet at once really sucks, though.

Date: 2006-06-22 11:29 pm (UTC)Hopefully I can avoid surgery; I've had orthopedic surgery once and the only good thing was the pain meds. *grin*
Thanks for the good wishes.

Date: 2006-06-23 04:53 am (UTC)BTW...I actually started writing the chapter where you're about to make your grand entrance. And I've cooked up a really interesting idea about how you fit into the big picture.

Date: 2006-06-23 09:42 pm (UTC)And thanks. My left foot already feels a bit better, but that might be the drugs. It's all kinds of interesting colors. My SCA fighter friends have admired my "pretty bruises." Stick jocks, oy. *grin*

Date: 2006-06-23 08:31 am (UTC)Isn't your right one supposed to hurt more - it's the broken one! That really sucks, doing both at once. I mean it's bad enough getting around when you've really hurt one foot or knee or whatever, but to have both out of action... I hope you're using this as a way to get attention. This is a rare chance to get some real sympathy!

Date: 2006-06-23 09:46 pm (UTC)I'm getting rather a lot of sympathy, from friends, family, and random strangers. But people are also calling me "Cripple" and the like (all in good fun, mind).
It is a pain in the neck getting around, though. The Lortab (codeine plus acetominophen/paracetamol) helps, but walking is still quite a project.
Thanks for the sympathy and good wishes!
