Well, anyone who knows me IRL knows that I am not always the most graceful individual on this earth.

I proved that Tuesday evening.

I fell in a pothole and broke my right foot and sprained my left. Ow.

So I really can't walk; hobbling is about the best I can manage. And I'm not supposed to drive until my right foot heals; I'm not supposed to be using it at all, but I can't help it. The left one hurts so much that I can't stand to bear all my weight on it; I have to put a little weight on the right foot. Hopefully I won't screw my foot up completely; apparently this type of fracture can require the placement of a screw in my foot to repair it. Ow.

Oh, and by the way, OWWWWWWW!!!!

Oh, honey, I'm so sorry. I hope you have lots of good drugs.

Take it easy!

Did they give you some good pain pills?

Here in a bit I'm going to pick up the Lortab that the ER doc prescribed for me.

It should help; they gave me some when I was actually in the ER, and the drugs made it possible for me to walk without making too many weird noises.

Yup, Lortab.

And thanks.

Crap in a hat, another bites the dust. I get mastits, [livejournal.com profile] becisvolatile gets, like, every other infection under the sun, now you're all laid up. Geez. My flist looks like a trauma ward right now.

*pats* Poor thing. Wanna trade? ;)

I don't know; from what I hear, mastitis really hurts. The worst thing that happened to me while nursing was a plugged milk duct. Oh, and Mini-me teething.

It would sure be nice to be able to walk like normal people again, though. Or even to be able to crutch around like normal people on crutches.

I've been on crutches a fair few times; I was a real klutz around age 8-9, and sprained both ankles and both knees numerous times, plus managed to break a few toes. I have also had surgery on my left knee, so I'm no stranger to gimping around.

Injuring both feet at once really sucks, though.

I had all ten toes broken when I was 8 years old. I just hobbled around on my heels in too-big tennis shoes for a few weeks while they healed. I'll never be a foot model, I'll tell you that right now. Yet, I would seriously prefer a repeat of that injury to the trouble I've been having with my tits. Not just because of the pain (and yes, the mastitis hurt more when it was at its peak than the toes did), but also because, in my experience, having two bum feet was slightly less inconvenient than having one infected mammary gland (and now it's looking like the other one is trying to get sick, too, dammit). *sigh*

Ow. Pobrecita.

Trauma ward indeed.

Owie :( That's no good. My mum did something like that many, many years ago and had to have a huge pin put in her ankle. I hope it doesn't come to that for you.

Do take care and hopefully you'll mend quickly.

Ouch, that is no fun. I hope it heals quickly!

I'm trying. I've been on the couch with my feet propped on the arm (I'm supposed to elevate my feet) and with ice on my left foot. (I'm supposed to ice the right one too but I can't feel the ice through the wrappings, so I don't think it's doing much good to try to ice it.)

Hopefully I can avoid surgery; I've had orthopedic surgery once and the only good thing was the pain meds. *grin*

Thanks for the good wishes.

Thanks! And yes, it is no fun at all.

Get better soon. That's an order.

BTW...I actually started writing the chapter where you're about to make your grand entrance. And I've cooked up a really interesting idea about how you fit into the big picture.

Oh poor you! My aunties boyfriend had to have screws in his ankle and I freaked out when I say them because obv. you have to keep the wounds clean and there was betadine around it and I thought it was blood!

Isn't your right one supposed to hurt more - it's the broken one! That really sucks, doing both at once. I mean it's bad enough getting around when you've really hurt one foot or knee or whatever, but to have both out of action... I hope you're using this as a way to get attention. This is a rare chance to get some real sympathy!

Coolness. I shall have to go read. It's not like there's much else I can do.

And thanks. My left foot already feels a bit better, but that might be the drugs. It's all kinds of interesting colors. My SCA fighter friends have admired my "pretty bruises." Stick jocks, oy. *grin*

Well, I'd been told that sprains hurt worse than breaks; I've sprained both ankles, both knees, my right wrist and my right elbow at various points in my life, and I never believed that bit (about sprains hurting worse). Trust me, it's true. I have empirical evidence at the ends of my legs. *grin*

I'm getting rather a lot of sympathy, from friends, family, and random strangers. But people are also calling me "Cripple" and the like (all in good fun, mind).

It is a pain in the neck getting around, though. The Lortab (codeine plus acetominophen/paracetamol) helps, but walking is still quite a project.

Thanks for the sympathy and good wishes!

Where did you live in AZ? I was there last week and kept thinking about you.

I was born in Page (way up near the Utah-AZ state line) and lived in Phoenix for a while when I was a little older (like middle-school aged).

Thanks. Aside from hurting and feeling like a complete klutzy idiot for having done this to myself, I feel okay.

But thanks for the well-wishes.
