For whatever odd reason this morning, I wanted BLTs.
I have bacon, but I needed lettuce and tomato to make my sandwiches, so off I went toward the supermarket to buy lettuce and tomatoes.
And as I drove by the open air market on the way to the supermarket, I saw that they had HoneyBells in stock. HoneyBells are a tangerine/grapefruit hybrid that somehow produces an incredibly sweet (and insanely messy) orange-type fruit. I think they're technically considered tangelos, but whatever the case, they're YUMMY. So I bought some.
For some reason, the growing season for HoneyBells is quite short; you can only get them in January, sometimes late December and sometimes a little bit into February.
I also bought my tomatoes at the open air market, since they're local tomatoes (or relatively local), but I still had to go to the supermarket for lettuce.
So I had 2 BLT sandwiches (yum) and a HoneyBell for breakfast. Weird combination but yummy.
Now I just have to make myself keep my paws off the other HoneyBells so that other people can have some.
Wish me luck. I don't know how good my willpower is going to be.
I'm tempted to order a small box of them from that website, since they're still shipping them through 20 Feb.
