Well, Nancy's friend Rebecca went home so quiet has descended on my house again.
We had another cookout, this time for no special reason except that Cliff wanted to use the grill and we wanted to see our friends. This time I remembered to call Rip and Jen and invite them and they actually made it! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!! I got to see my Jen for the first time since Thanksgiving, and I pretty much monopolized her for the whole three hours or so that they were here. I misseded my Jen. :D I missed Rip too but as these things usually do, the party broke up into groups and he wasn't always right by Jen and me.
Cliff drank a couple of beers while he was cooking the food, and took some Lortab for the tendinitis and fell asleep sitting up, so he has gone to bed early. I expect he'll stay there until morning.
Tiff and Beau and Tyler walked across the yard and came over to eat too, and Cliff's high school buddy Steve dropped by although he couldn't stay to eat because he had left his adolescent kids home alone. Beau invited some couple I don't even know and whose names I cannot now remember, but they mostly hung out with Tiff and Beau; I don't think they even came inside our house to get the food once it was ready. Tiff said she dressed Beau down for inviting people to our house without asking first but I didn't care very much, except that I was worried about having enough food for everybody to eat.
I shouldn't have worried. We still have a hot dog and five burgers leftover, plus Cliff made enough potato salad for a small army, and was even nice enough to make some without onions for Rip and me. Rip is allergic to onions (as in they make his throat swell shut) and raw onions give me bad heartburn. So we'll be eating potato salad for a couple of days.
So despite an aggravating morning with young ladies who don't have a STFU button, I had a pretty good day.
I'll probably go to bed early tonight myself, because I was up late last night chatting and got up this morning to pick Cliff up from work and didn't go back to sleep when I got home.

Date: 2008-06-09 03:56 am (UTC)You're going to have to give me directions to your house because the only time I've been over there was when we all went over there from the apartments after the hurricanes in 2004 when that house had power and our apartments didn't. I remember that heading west on 103rd, you turn left at the light before the IHOP, but that's all I remember.
