Well, THAT was bloody graceful...

Tuesday night, I had the dog outside on his leash, and my boyfriend was fiddling with our doorknob, because we couldn't get the door to close. He asked me to walk over to the maintenance man's apartment and ask him to come over. On my way, I stepped into a (FREAKING HUGE) pothole in the parking lot. As I fell, I heard/felt something snap.
For a few minutes I thought I was going to upchuck my toenails (though I didn't), and for about five minutes I couldn't hear quite right; everything sounded like it was underwater or coming from very far away. I also felt my skin go cold and clammy.
I apparently made some kind of noise when I fell; for all I know, I screamed; it did hurt, quite a lot. April, who is our neighbor Tony's girlfriend, came out to check on me, and got Cliff. I could just barely walk; both of my feet hurt.
We wound up in the ER, where we found out I managed to break my right foot (a Jones fracture, which is a fracture of the fifth metatarsal, i.e. the bone in the main part of the foot that connects to the littlest toe), and evidently sprained my left foot as well.
So I can't do anything that might be construed as normal walking. Hobbling is about the best I can manage for now.
Oh, and by the way, FUCKING OW!!!!!!!!

Date: 2006-06-23 09:39 pm (UTC)Yes, my boyfriend is pretty much doing everything for me; he even has to help me bathe. Joy. He's being pretty good about it though; I know he'd rather I could do for myself, but he knows I'd do the same for him if the situation were reversed. (I did, last year, when he had a horrendous stomach virus and couldn't keep water down.)
