I actually feel kind of ashamed of myself. There are a few books on this list that I've never even heard of, much less read. And there are a fair few others that I probably should read but mostly likely won't. (The Catcher in the Rye and The Old Man and the Sea come straight to mind. I've heard a lot of conflicting things about Catcher, and Hemingway just annoys me. I can acknowledge his contribution to American literature, but I don't like reading his work.)
