Do you know how many people mess around online? This is a public entry, and I have at least two Britons as friends on my LJ, plus two or three Aussies (who also understand those words), and a fair few Americans who are conversant in British idiom. Never assume that someone doesn't understand you just because you're speaking in an unusual way or a foreign language; that way lies a great deal of trouble.
